My English Poem

                                                   Decisions

Sitting on the field, he looked up and watched the

Bright burning bundles of fire fixed against a brilliant black sky.

He was at a crossroads.

The world spun around him.

Despite the quietness, his mind spun like a hamster on a wheel as

He weighed his life on an imaginary scale.

Life’s decisions require time.

Solitude is necessary to make wise choices.

On one side, he imagined a grand mansion in a bustling urban setting.

Golden light leapt from the windows

And filled the clear night with flashes of blinding yellow and brilliant white.

The hustle broke up the peace.

There was no quiet and silence.

The colorful lights were dazzling and distracting.

On the other was his family’s barn.

Brown, worn with age, sentimental, dilapidated.

A hoe, a yoke, and a tractor beckoned to him,

Simple but peaceful, like twinkling stars

Hanging in the serene sky.

The tranquility pleased him.

Life is full of decisions.

Some are more difficult to make than others

But no matter how tough,

Take time to filter out the noises because

Peace and quiet are necessary to make good choices.

My Problem

More and more people who were from different countries decided to move to Canada for a better life. It makes Canada become a huge muti-cultural country. However, most of the mew immigrant cannot adapt the environment or education, and there’re tons of problems which are waiting for them to figure out. I’m one of the immigrants who have come for several months, trying to adapt the life in Canada, and certainly the most difficult thing for me is the language.

  When I first came to Vancouver, I got lost in this unfamiliar city. All of my friends were staying in China, and the feeling of lonely almost conquer my life. I tried to get out of my home, and communicated with others to make the mood clam. However, I found there’s not a topic which can talk at all, because it’s hard to understand what they said during that time. English became the most difficult problem which puzzled me, and it also brought a lot of inconvenience such as: order a meal, buy the stuff, and even take the bus. Therefore, my parents sent me to a cramming school to learn some basic English which can communicate with others easily. From the school, I met some teenagers who also struggled in English like me, and I made some friends.

  Although, my English skills are good enough to live a better life in Vancouver, it’s still a problem to get a good score at school. The essays are hard to write and the books are bored to read. There’re bunch of strange vocabularies, and idioms which still persecute me. I always make silly mistakes in spelling and grammar. I write the essay in the way which I learned in China. Those things tell me that I still cannot figure out the problem of language.

However, I believe, “where there is a will there is a way!” I could get out of the struggle by the striving and insist.

Whether Rob Ford should resign as mayor

                   During the time of Rob Ford’s event happens, more and more people start to pay attention on a question whether Rob should resign as mayor. Rob Ford is the mayor of Toronto, and he is also the party of this event. Recently, a video was released by the Toronto Star which showing an inebriated Ford in an obscenity-laced rant added to calls for the mayor to step down or aside.( 2^nd paragraph of Rob Ford scandal: How Toronto city council could strip his power). People also noticed that the mayor was used to buy and take crack cocaine as well as for writing a letter of reference for "an alleged drug dealer" on city letterhead. ( 2^nd paragraph of Rob Ford ready to face motion calling for him to take leave) Those things made the citizen not only suspect the ability of mayor but angry as well. Councilors decided to give a temporary break to Rob, and used the time to solve problems.

Mayor is the manager of a city, and he’s also a leader. People selected him to serve the city, and figure out the problems for them. However, if mayor cannot make a good model for his citizen, it would give the city negative influences. Without the care of mayor, the financial of the city would drop quickly, the people become lazy, more and more criminal would occur. As a mayor, Rob is a certainly bad model of Toronto. He didn’t make the responsibly of the city, and did lots of bad behaviors. However, the most serious thing that he did is he took the drug which is illegal in the law. Though he has already apologized about the event, it still cannot get rid of the things that he did. Therefore, the people would not allow him to resign as mayor.

Physical or Sedentary?

“The life depends on movement” (Voltaire) Nowadays, if you go outside to walk for a while, you might see lots of people who are taking exercises in different ways. They all want to make their body stronger which can keep away from disease. However, there're also some of the people who prefer to stay at home rather than going outside. They try their best to avoid anything from outside even some fresh air. Absolutely, no one wants to keep in touch with them and they always complain about the loneliness.

I’d like to be a physical person rather than the sedentary. Therefore, I try to treat myself as a sport player who has to do some exercises to keep the body fit, and day after day I develop a new habit which cannot leave out of a physical practice. Whenever I am, I just try to move my body a little bit to make myself more flexible and sober. Maybe others will think it’s crazy or unnecessary. However, it could help me a lot with paying attention on class or keeping clear-head. When the school is over, I always play basketball with my friend and they are kind of physical person like me. Before I fall into sleep, I always remember all the happy scenes during the exercises. I bring the happiness and crazy to other person. However, there’s also some of the problem which I want to overcome them such as slow reading or worst writing, because I spend most of my time on the physical practice and playing outside I couldn't read or write a lot at home. I think I have to spend more attention on my sedentary side and make myself calmer. I have the confident to solve the problem and make myself the best.
